trick or treat #1

Today Wyatt and met some friends in downtown Corvallis and trick or treated all over- all the local businesses were handing out candy. It was SO much fun and the weather was great (a little warm for my Ugs and turtle neck). Next year I plan to drag Will along because I know he'd enjoy it too. It was busy but not overly so.

Had a nice visit with Will's mom, Janet this week. She helped a lot with unpacking and entertaining Wyatt. We even made it to the pumpkin patch with my class on Thursday. Got to take a hay ride, pick out a pumpkin, eat apple cider and a donut. Yummmm

We are excited to go trick or treating tomorrow night with some friends and then to a 1 year old birthday party Sunday. I think moving to Corvallis and being so close to everything is going to be great!

Wyatt has had a runny nose all week. He is due for his 15 month immunizations next week so I hope he gets better fast. I also want to get him a flu shot but won't get it if he's not in tip top shape. Also am thinking of delaying his other vaccines in order to get the flu shot but need to consult with his pediatrician. We have been trying to figure out whether to get him the H1N1 shot and are leaning towards yes- but I'm hearing we have a shortage so we'll see if we even can. We think he's also teething this week. Janet noticed a upper tooth coming in which is probably why he's been cranky and even maybe why his nose is running away... ahhh the joys of parenting!

Moved!

This weekend was our moving weekend. We did the majority of stuff on Saturday and 1/2 of Sunday. My sister watched Wyatt for us all day Saturday and her hubby helped us move (along with a co worker of his). Couldn't have done it without them. So great to have all that help! Today I spent a big chunk of time cleaning the old house and also running errands. Will's mom got here Sunday night and has been keeping Wyatt entertained (as well as getting a lot done in the kitchen today!) We have our beds all set up, kitchen almost in order, internet finally up (no t.v. for another week!), bathroom stuff unpacked and Will is currently working on getting the washer and dryer up and running. Needless to say we are all exhausted!

Strangely enough we are really liking our new house a lot and I'm not feeling sad at leaving the old one (other than being farther from my sister now). It's very private and woodsy (on 2 acres), but only 8 minutes from shopping/restaurants/movies etc. It's a much smaller house than we've lived in since my Fresno house, but there is a lot of storage and bigger garage which is making it work. One extra bedroom would make it perfect. The dogs are still a bit anxious and needy but have a great set up (large yard and heated garage area). Wyatt seems to love his new yard and tromped all over in the rain today.

We took a little mini vacation this weekend down to Coos Bay and stayed in the casino Saturday night. Our friends Niki and Jason (whose little girl Gianna is Wyatt's first love) were up competing in the Colgate Country Showdown- which is a country music talent search (they won the CA state competition last month). The band which is called Whisky Row ended up winning the competition and is now going to be competing in Nashville for 100k and lots of great opportunities (along with 4 other singers from around the country). Anyways I ended up having a great night out celebrating with everyone (Will took Wyatt back to the room which had free WIFI so he was happy too). I even got to play on the quarter slot machines a little before heading to bed.

We came home Sunday afternoon and resumed packing for our big move next week (I think we've been in denial) ARGH.. We are not so thrilled. In fact, I felt like crawling into bed today to have a pity party- however I have one busy toddler who is now climbing on top of anything he can i.e. couches, tables, his train... SO there is no time for that bizness. Probably for the best anyways.

Well one thing that I hesitate to talk too much about in fear that it won't happen is that my mom finally got a job transfer offer to Corvallis! This means that she could be working in Corvallis before Thanksgiving! WOOOHOOO. Something we have been hoping for for about a year now. Anyways it will be so nice for Wyatt (and us too of course!)to have more family near.

Alrighty, little Wy is down for the night, so its time for desert and then some light packing...

This weekend has pretty much sucked. Wyatt woke up Saturday a.m. with a snotty nose and very crabby. He then proceeded to spike a 104 temperature by Saturday evening and was very lethargic all afternoon and evening. I slept on the floor of his room (we really need to invest in a mat), but as soon as he realized I was sleeping on his floor he was wide awake with every movement I made. Eventually I just brought him on the floor to sleep with me. His fever seemed to decrease in the middle of the night (thanks to Tylenol I think). This morning he started out better but became very upset and seemed to be in pain. He was inconsolable and was acting strange so we took him to the urgent care in Corvallis. After a 3 hour wait we were done- his ears and throat etc. were fine. They did a H1N1 nasal swipe which turned out negative (however we were warned that its common for them to come back negative). Anyways he seemed a lot better all afternoon (even without a good nap today) and no Tylenol all day. I'm hoping we're on the road to recovery. Wyatt's grandma Janet came on Friday to visit but I'm afraid it hasn't been much of a visit for her. She has been a good sport though. We did manage to get a visit to the pumpkin patch in Saturday a.m. before we realized Wyatt was feeling so poorly (well we noticed about a 1/4 way in the corn maze anyways).

I have a hair appointment with Audra tomorrow morning so as long as our little guy is better, that's my plan for the day. Keep fingers crossed it goes well and that Wyatt stays healthy!!

We're moving (again!)...

So the upside is that we're happy with where we're moving to. The downside is having to move- UGH. The house is on 2 great acres with plenty of yard for Wyatt to play in and it has an excellent dog set up. The house itself is smaller than we've lived in since having a baby, but its clean and although it's only 3 bedrooms, 2 bath., the living room, dining room and kitchen areas are pretty roomy. It has a nice patio (some covered) and is just on the outskirts of Corvallis. It will be a closer drive to all of our 'mommy and me' activities however it is further from my sis. We will have to meet up in Corvallis or Albany for shopping expeditions I guess.

This weekend was a lot of fun. We took Tasha to the water park on Saturday and she got to play and swim with about a hundred other crazy dogs. Wyatt hung out on his daddy, in the backpack so he got a great view of everything but stayed safe. After lots of fun entertainment we had lunch and signed our new lease.. after checking out the house a bit more, we decided to check out the area. We found a wonderful park just a couple miles from the new house and then ended up driving to Albany to test the distance (i.e. distance to shopping- haha). Today we just hung out around the house; I did some minor packing, Will made pizza and Wyatt vacillated between being needy and adventurous. We got the feeling he wasn't feeling well- he has been a little congested and having some difficulty sleeping. Maybe more teeth are coming...

#30.....again!

Had a nice birthday... thanks everyone for the birthday wishes, cards, gifts etc! I felt so special :) Anyways Will and I dropped Wyatt off with his auntie and we went out for Japanese food. It was very good and I definitely got my sushi craving satisfied. Afterwards we took a stroll around town and then wandered around a bookstore. It felt nice be on a date with the hubby.

Today, Audra, Mikey, Wy and I did some shopping in Eugene.. I got my hair cut while Audra watched both boys and then we shopped for Halloween costumes. For dinner tonight we had little ambition to cook anything until I came across a recipe for pasta carbanara.. SO healthy! hahaha.. But we had all the ingredients and it came out great- was also super easy. A couple of glasses of vino made the perfect meal!

So on Saturday we are taking Tasha to the local swim park for the end of the season 'dog day' where the dogs get to swim and play to their heart's content. I can't wait! We're also planning on signing our lease for our next home. Let the moving begin.. bleh!

Happy fall 2009

Still busily looking for new housing... this surprisingly is pretty darn time consuming. During Wyatt's nap times, I feel as if I am spending the majority looking up houses online and then calling about them and making plans to go see them with Will. Seems like everyone is pretty friendly and talkative.. kinda exhausting to be so social haha. After dragging my brother in law to get his professional opinion on the big Victorian house we were interested in, we decided to nix that idea. Too risky.

Well we were contemplating going camping in the Bend/Sister's areas this coming weekend with my parents, but with the house hunt on we probably need to stay put. Also there have been some fires in that area causing the air quality to be pretty bad. I have a hard time when its smokey- I end up with bad headaches.. no fun. Anyways my parents are currently vacationing on the Oregon Coast for a few days but should be returning soon. I assume we'll hit them up to babysit for us this weekend while we go look for houses, hit the bar etc. ;)

Today I signed Wyatt and I up for another parent/child class through the local community college. This class is in Philomath (about 20 minutes away) and starts next week.

Will's sweet tooth finally got the best of him.. he just ran down to the Dari-Mart for ice cream. Good ol cookies n cream. YUM.

Our weather has been fluctuating.. Last week it was colder and then it heated up quite a bit. Ok, gonna go space out in front of the t.v....

life in a nutshell

So much going on I dont know where to start... well first I suppose is that Wyatt and I just got home from a visit to Fresno on Tuesday. We flew down the previous week and then rode back with my parents. It was a LONG trip as usual but my dad drove most of it and my mom entertained Wyatt. He barely cried and was pretty darn happy have his grandma at his beck and call. We celebrated my grandma's 82nd birthday and even got to see my great aunt Margaret who flew out from Baltimore for the big event. Unfortunately Aunt Margaret fell and broke her knee cap on her 2nd or 3rd day here. She just had surgery Wednesday and is now having some uneven heart beats and low blood pressure issues. The doctors are also concerned about blood clotting. All in all, it was really nice to get to see everyone. Felt like I actually got to spend some substantial time with all the important people in my life :)

So I get home Tuesday and then get and email from the Property Management company who manages our house that they are raising our rent. I was already going to let them know that we would need a drop in our rent if they wanted to keep us on as tenants so although I did let them know this, we think we will need to move when the lease is up next month. So we started house hunting... The first house we looked at was built in the 1800's and was pretty cool if it was anywhere livable. It was 2 like 2 minutes from my sister and on a beautiful piece of property. Yesterday evening we took a drive to 'Summit' which is about 1/2 hour west of Corvallis and about 35 minutes from my sister. The house was very basic (much smaller than what we have now) but brand spankin new (and on 2 beautiful acres). Anyways we are #2 on the list so who knows at this point.. We are going to keep looking this weekend..

So our little Wyatt finally started getting a tooth (bottom one) last week right before our flight down to Fresno and just a couple days ago started getting his 2 top ones. It looks like they are all coming up at the same time! Poor kid. He is still sleeping great and in a pretty darn good mood. He is going to look so different now with teeth.

Well I better go.. I wanted to go check out the new 1-2 year old 'Wobbler' story time at our library so need to get myself off of the computer...

Labor day 2009

I'm getting excited to be flying to Fresno tomorrow for a little visit. We will be celebrating my grandma Edith's 82nd birthday and I'm thrilled to get to visit with my great aunt from Baltimore as well. I have to say I'm equally nervous and excited to fly with my toddler. The last time we flew was when he wasn't 'Mr. Independent mobile kid.' I am packing all kinds of little treats in hopes that it is a smooth flight for everyone :) But he's so inquisitive these days that I'm looking forward to seeing his reaction to the plane and people etc. He is really a pretty easy going kid in public so I'm sure well do okay..

Will may also be making a trip to CA this week. One of his coworkers and friends, Wicke was killed in a motorcycle accident last week. We are very sad that such a nice person lost his life, and at such a young age. Makes you really appreciate when everything is good and everyone in your life is healthy and safe. (sigh..)

This Labor day weekend we were pretty lazy; just spent it together, enjoying our lives- the rain and then the sun (over and over) were interesting. Will picked a bunch of blackberries out of our backyard and I made a 'Blackberry Buckle.' I also baked zucchini bread with veggies from our garden. We had chicken Marsala for dinner tonight and are planning on having pesto and fresh mozzarella with tomatoes (from our garden of course) on baguettes for lunch tomorrow. Loving our 'farm fresh produce!'

Well I'm off to bed- we have a very long day in store for us tomorrow!
